Since 1877, the Unterwirt in Steinegg near Bozen has been run with dedication by the Lantschner family. In this hotel with a lot of traditionally South Tyrolean flair, familiar hospitality and true cordiality are important values. Here, a breath-taking view of the Rosengarten, the Etschtal Valley, and the Ritten high plateau is waiting for you. After an exciting day in beautiful South Tyrol, you can relax in our spacious apartments or in one of our cosy double rooms with private bathroom. Also, the dining table is not far away: at lunch and dinner, you can eat directly at our restaurant with pizzeria and at breakfast, our buffet breakfast is waiting for you. If the weather is nice, there is no better place to enjoy the sun than our terrace with a stunning view of mount Sciliar. Here, you can recharge, enjoy the weather, and admire the beauty of South Tyrol while having a delicious meal or a refreshing drink. A comfortable stay
After a long day in the mountains or on the motorcycle, coming back to our cosy rooms feels a little like coming home. Here, you can find everything you need for a comfortable stay. All our rooms have a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer, Wi-Fi, and a TV. Furthermore, in all our rooms there is a balcony, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Our spacious apartments with a bedroom with double bed and a kitchen cum living room offer enough space for up to four guests and here you can find everything you need for a comfortable stay! For a good start to your day

At Unterwirt, the perfect start to the day is guaranteed. On our buffet, you can find everything you might wish for. Whether sweet or salty, for sure there is something for every taste: different types of bread and cold cuts, jams and spreads, cereals and yogurt, different egg dishes, and of course coffee and tea. After a delicious breakfast, an active day in the South Tyrolean mountains can start.

Traditionally South Tyrolean dishes or Italian pizza

A restaurant with pizzeria is part of our hotel, too. Who wants to stay at the hotel after a long day outdoors, can happily do so. At lunch and dinner, you can choose traditional, local dishes à la carte, and in the evening, we make pizza, too. The best of the Italian and South Tyrolean kitchen! When the sun is shining, you can enjoy your meal outdoors on the sunny terrace with a view of mount Sciliar. Life is good!

Important information for your holiday at Unterwirt
To facilitate the planning of your trip, here you can find some of the most important information on Gasthof Unterwirt. For further questions we are available by phone or via e-mail at any time.

Check-In / Check-Out

On the day of arrival, your room will be available from 12 p.m. On the day of departure, we kindly ask you to leave your room by 10 a.m.
On Wednesdays, checking in is possible only from 5 p.m. We kindly ask for your understanding.

Animals

We love animals, but unfortunately, they are not allowed at Unterwirt. We kindly ask you to leave your furry friends at home.

Cancellation policy

To be covered in the case of a cancellation, we recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance.

For cancellations made up to 31 days before the date of arrival, no additional fee will be charged.
For cancellations within 30 to 15 days prior to arrival, 40% of the total booking will be charged.
For cancellations within 14 to 8 days prior to arrival, 60% of the total booking will be charged.
For cancellations within 7 days prior to arrival, 70% of the total booking will be charged.
In case of early departure, late arrival or no-show, we will charge a cancellation fee of 70% of the amount paid for the missing days.

Down payment

At the moment of reservation, you must pay a deposit of 30% of the total amount of the reservation via bank transfer. In case of cancellation, the deposit will be kept entirely by the accommodation. The remaining amount has to be paid directly to the accommodation during your stay.

Guest Pass
On arrival, we will give you the South Tyrolean Guest Pass. The Guest Pass allows you to use all means of public transport in South Tyrol.

Drying room
In case the motorbike ride ends in a rainy way, you can use our drying room, and the next day, you can start all fresh and dry again.

Underground car park for motorcycles
If required, we will happily provide a parking lot in our underground car park for your motorcycle.

Specials for motorcyclists
In addition to the drying room and the parking lot, we also offer other specials for motorcyclists staying with us: a parking space for the motorcycle trailer, a cleaning area with high-pressure cleaner, chain grease, and an air gauge, tools, luggage storage, and a qualified garage service not far away.

Exploring the surroundings

Thanks to our good position in the middle of the Dolomites, the Unterwirt is the perfect starting point for beautiful hikes in the Catinaccio area. The Sciliar, probably one of the best-known symbols of South Tyrol, can’t only be admired from our terrace, but it can also be climbed. In the surroundings, there are many other possibilities for hikes in the beautiful South Tyrolean nature, too

Motorcycle

Who prefers exploring the mountain pass roads or the Dolomites by motorcycle, has found the right accommodation at Unterwirt as well. From Unterwirt, in a few minutes, you can reach the most beautiful motorcycle routes of South Tyrol. And the drive to Steinegg is an adventure for motorcyclists, too: tight turns and short straights make the drive from Blumau to Steinegg varied and exciting. For this reason, the Unterwirt is a popular stop for motorcyclists. No matter if passing through or for a longer motorcycle holiday in South Tyrol, we warmly welcome all of you. Winter

Fun in the snow of the South Tyrolean mountains

Winter in South Tyrol has a lot to offer: perfectly prepared slopes, beautiful hiking paths, frozen lakes for ice skating, and of course the famous Christmas markets.
Even though in Steinegg there are no slopes, the skiers among you will be happy here! The ski bus takes you from Steinegg to Welschnofen. The skiing areas Ski Centre Latemar (23km), Carezza (16km), and Seiser Alm (31km) are easy to reach from the Unterwirt and offer many kilometres of slopes and a lot of fun in the snow for beginners and pros. Who prefers going for a hike in the snow can explore the surroundings of Steinegg on the beautiful hiking paths. Around Gasthof Unterwirt, there are many different paths, where everybody will for sure find the right one for them.

Christmas markets

But South Tyrol is not known only for its mountains, but also for its traditional Christmas markets. The Unterwirt is a great starting point for those of you who want to travel to South Tyrol around Christmas to explore the Christmas markets. From here, the markets in Bozen (14km), Meran (47km), and Brixen (39km) can easily be reached. After a short drive, you will arrive at the Christmas markets and can enjoy the festive atmosphere while drinking a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate, buying handmade souvenirs, or tasting local delicacies. Our insider tip: On some weekends before Christmas, a particularly beautiful and idyllic Christmas market takes place at the lake Karersee. Don’t miss it!

Arrival

By car: When going to Steinegg, coming from each direction, take the highway exit Bozen Nord and follow the street north till Blumau. There, turn right to Steinegg.

With public transport: all IC and EC trains, as well as trains from Trenitalia and ÖBB stop in Bozen. Directly next to the train station, there is a bus stop, where buses leave for Steinegg multiple times a day. More information on suedtirolmobil.info.

By plane: in Bozen, there is an airport, which is served by some other European airports. Otherwise, the nearest airports are in Innsbruck, Verona, Venice, Munich, and Milan.
